I Am a Finalist in the 2010-11 National Children's Book of the Year Award Contest

I submitted a math-centered "fairy tale" picture book (about a lonely, attention-seeking prince who declares he will eat only perfectly square peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into two equal parts a DIFFERENT way every time and the clever girl who saves him from starving with her quilt-making-based knowledge of shapes) and the National Association of Elementary School Principals liked it! Here's the link:

Read all the way down to the bottom of the list for picture books.
Someone "adjusted" the title of my book--it should be A Fractionated Fairy Tale.

I am grateful to the children's book writing group I recently joined for their feedback on the story and for notifying me about the contest! I'm honored to be a finalist--the five FINAL finalists will be announced next week, and the winner will be announced in April. I have no such expectations, but I'm encouraged to continue to work on this and my other math-y stories for children--and I'm hoping some day to see one published!
